Cardboard Creators Club

As part of the Scrap Squad helping children take part in the Cardboard Creators Club Little Big Arts workshop for Dudley HAF August 2023.

I was so excited to be chosen to work on Little Big Arts org’s Creative Cardboard Creator workshop as part of Dudley HAF summer of activities. On the 11th August myself and two other ‘Scrap Squad’ workers assisted the workshop facilitators with setting-up and running the workshop.

Aimed at children aged 5-11 years, the motivation was to get children creating with recycled cardboard. Designing their creations, building them and then decorating, the children were encouraged to know no limits to their imagination! As a Scrap Squad member, our role was to bring enthusiasm and encouragement to support children in their creative process and use our creative skills to bring their visions to life. Helping with ideas and the building techniques unique to the cardboard materials.

Three workshops over the day with 30+ children who all had a great time, a creation and a lunch to take home. Although not my workshop, it was a fantastic introduction to the possibilities of using creative play with children. Something I am keen to do again and develop my own initiatives!
